1st Pinuccia Marzocchi International Composition Competition
Prizes and organization of the competition:
The winning pieces, at the sole discretion of the jury, will receive a diploma of merit, a cash prize, and performances in public concerts by major concert institutions and musical associations. The judging panel will be composed of internationally renowned musicians. The compositions must be a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes long and must be inspired by the theme “Visions and Resonances”.
To participate in the Pinuccia Marzocchi International Composition Competition, composers must send an application to the following email address: info@premiomusicalepinucciamarzocchi.it
Each candidate may submit one or more unpublished compositions in PDF format. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM on February 28, 2026.
The participation fee, € 50.00 for each composition submitted, must be paid upon registration, by bank transfer to the account in the name of Associazione Musicale Scriabin IBAN IT37J0885114301000000316333, SWIFT ICRAITRRNN0 (last is zero!).
The international jury will meet in Grosseto on May 2 and 3, 2026, at the Teatro degli Industri, Via Mazzini 99. On the first day, the jury, after selecting a suitable number of semi-finalists (who will be notified at least one month in advance), will select the finalist pieces, no more than six, through an independent and anonymous evaluation by each juror, followed by a collective evaluation. The resulting ranking will be communicated to interested parties via email and published on the Competition’s social media pages. Selected composers will obviously be able to participate in the Gala evening on May 3 at 6:00 PM, but there is no obligation to do so.
Art.1 The competition is open to all composers of any nationality, gender, and age who are under 41 years of age (May 2nd, the start date of the in-person competition, is the date of reference).
Art.2 Each candidate may submit one or more compositions for Chamber Orchestra (2.2.2.2-2.2-1 timpani, 1 percussion, 1 harp, strings: 5.4.3.3.2) which will have a maximum of 32 instrumentalists. Scores must be submitted in PDF format. Scores must be anonymous and labeled with a motto. Please note: The composer’s name or the title of the composition must not appear on the score.
It is recommended, but not required, to include a link to an audio recording or simulation of each piece submitted.
IMPORTANT: Do not attach any audio files to the email, only the links. Audio files must be downloadable and uploaded to a permanent storage service (Dropbox or Google Drive). Files from platforms from which they cannot be downloaded will not be accepted. Audio files must also be anonymous. (Only the motto should appear; the title or composer’s name should not appear.)
Art.3 The composition or compositions must be inspired by the theme “Visions and Resonances”.
Art.4 The duration of each composition cannot be less than 5 minutes and cannot exceed 15 minutes.
Art.5 It is mandatory to submit unpublished compositions (under penalty of exclusion from the competition).

Art.7 Along with the files referred to in Article 2, it is necessary to submit: the author’s personal details and contact information (name, surname, date and place of birth, nationality, residential address, telephone number, email address); a completed and signed registration form; a short CV; a receipt for payment of the participation fee, also in electronic format; a declaration that the composition is unpublished; a copy of an identity document.
Art.8 The participation fee, €50.00 for each composition submitted, must be paid into the Banca Tema bank account in the name of Associazione Musicale Scriabin IBAN IT37J0885114301000000316333, SWIFT ICRAITRRNN0 (last is zero!).
Art.9 The entry fee will not be refunded under any circumstances, except in the event of the contest being cancelled. You may enter with one or more songs by paying a registration fee for each song submitted.
Art.10 The jury reserves the right not to award prizes to submitted scores, to award joint prizes, or to single out particularly worthy compositions. The competition prize pool is €6,000.00. The first-place winner will receive a First Prize Diploma and €3,000.00. The second-place winner will receive a Second Prize Diploma and €2,000.00. The third-place winner will receive a Third Prize Diploma and €1,000.00.
Art.11 Pursuant to the effects of art. 7 et seq. of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the personal data of candidates will be collected and processed only for the purposes of this procedure, as well as for future similar procedures.
Art.12 Acceptance of these rules constitutes a release from the composer’s rights to perform and share the submitted pieces on social media. The Pinuccia Marzocchi Foundation reserves the right to film and record the various activities of the Pinuccia Marzocchi International Composition Competition and to use the submitted pieces, including sharing them on social media and music streaming platforms, without any obligation to the competitors. Participation in the Pinuccia Marzocchi International Composition Competition also constitutes a release from the composer’s rights to use their image, broadcast the submitted pieces on radio, television, the internet, or social media, and/or perform them, without this entailing the payment of royalties or compensation of any kind for any reason whatsoever.
Art.13 Registration for the competition implies acceptance of these rules. In the event of a dispute, the Italian-language announcement will prevail. The competent court is the Court of Grosseto.
